Vol. 433 No. 1

Written Answers. - Buncrana (Donegal) Development Plan.

Patrick D. Harte

Question:

165 Mr. Harte asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received a copy of the development plan adopted by Buncrana Urban Council; if he will make a commitment to provide funds to implement the plan; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Buncrana UDC is not statutorily obliged to give me a copy of the development plan for the town although it is customary for planning authorities to furnish my Department with copies of plans, when adopted. I have not yet received the recently adopted plan. It is a matter for the council, in accordance with section 22 of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963, to take such steps as may be necessary for securing the objectives which are contained in the provisions of the development plan. It would also be a matter for the council, in implementing the various objectives of their development plan which would qualify for funding from my Department, to make proposals in the normal way.
