Vol. 433 No. 1

Written Answers. - Mayo Water and Sewerage Development.

Enda Kenny

Question:

173 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for the Environment the proposals, if any, he has in respect of each water and sewerage development proposal from County Mayo; the level of funding provided for these services in each year since 1990; the proposals, if any, he has to deal with outstanding claims during 1993; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A statement outlining the position in respect of each water and sewerage proposal relating to County Mayo is being compiled in my Department and will be forwarded to the Deputy as soon as possible. The level of funding provided for water and sewerage schemes to local authorities in the county is as follows: 1990, £7.159 million; 1991, £7.201 million; 1992, £6.926 million; 1993, £8.121 million (initial allocation).

The level of funding to be provided in the future will be considered in the context of the overall resources available, the level of commitments, and competing demands on the water and sanitary services programme generally.
