Vol. 433 No. 1

Written Answers. - Land Division.

Séamus Hughes

Question:

202 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will give details of all land in the hands of the Land Commission awaiting division by county, townland, area and date of possession; when these lands will be divided; and if the lands are arable.

Following is a list showing the name, record number and location of estates on which the Land Commission is still in possession of agricultural land. An asterisk beside the record number denotes that the area involved is less than one hectare.

A more comprehensive list containing all the information sought by the Deputy is currently being compiled and is expected to be completed shortly. I have arranged for a copy to be sent to the Deputy as soon as it is available.

Question:

203 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will give details of all commonages by county, townlands, acreage and number of shareholders in which an application for division has been received from some or all of the shareholders; and when it is likely to be divided.

Applications for commonage divisions are received, recorded and processed, in the first instance, at local Land Commission office level. In many cases details are not forwarded to the headquarters until the division on the ground has been completed. In these circumstances it was not possible to assemble the information requested in the time available. However work on the preparation of a comprehensive list of applications for commonage division has commenced and will be completed as soon as possible. I will communicate directly with the Deputy at that stage.
