Vol. 433 No. 1

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Job Creation.

Austin Deasy

Question:

19 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason 30 jobs which could be created in a company (details supplied) in County Waterford are not being created due to a lack of State funding in the form of grant aid.

The Industrial Development Authority is an autonomous body charged with responsibility for the implementation of national industrial policy. The matter raised by the Deputy relates to the day to day activities of the authority in which the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry has no direct function. I can nevertheless tell the Deputy that I understand that there is currently no application with the IDA relating to the creation of 30 jobs in the company concerned.
