Vol. 433 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tourism Associations Funding.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

226 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the funding, if any, that is available to tourism associations; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There is no provision in the Tourism and Trade Vote for the making available of funds to tourism associations. However, such associations are eligible to apply for assistance towards specific projects under a wide range of grant schemes administered by Bord Fáilte, and by SFADCo in the mid-west. These include schemes under EC Operational Programmes for Tourism, and Rural Development, and special programmes for tourism development in the Border counties funded by the EC under INTERREG, and by the International Fund for Ireland.
