Vol. 433 No. 1

Written Answers. - Ancient Stone Wall Restoration.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

231 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht if he will give details of the grant aid available under the auspices of the National Heritage Council, towards the restoration of an ancient stone wall (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The National Heritage Council distributes national lotery funding to heritage projects subject to my approval. The council's responsibilities relate to archaeology, architecture, flora, fauna, heritage gardens and inland waterways and projects in these areas will be considered for funding. All matters relating to the assessment of grant applications and decisions about whether or not to recommend assistance are matters entirely for the National Heritage Council. The Secretariat of the Council may be contacted at "Dún Aimhirgin", 43-49 Mespil Road, Dublin 4. Telephone: 01-6670821, Fax: 01-6670824.
