Vol. 433 No. 1

Written Answers. - Medical Equipment Provision.

Tony Gregory

Question:

252 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Health if his Department will assist with the provision of a portable oxygen ambulatory cylinder for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 7 who, without it, is confined to his bed for 20 hours per day with a permanent lung disease.

The provision of such medical equipment is a matter for the chief executive officer of the Eastern Health Board. I understand that the health board has not received an application for a portable oxygen cylinder from the person in question. The person should apply to the Director of Community Care, Eastern Health Board, Arus Daimhin, Jones's Road and should enclose a letter from his consultant stating that the equipment is medically necessary.
