Vol. 433 No. 3

Written Answers. - Wexford Centre for Handicapped.

Ivan Yates

Question:

70 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the funding that is required through the South-Eastern Health Board for the development of a centre for the handicapped (details supplied) in Wexford town; and the steps, if any, he proposes to take in conjunction with the health board to bring this project to a satisfactory conclusion.

I am aware of the position regarding the development of the centre for people with mental handicap referred to by the Deputy. I have met with representatives of the organisations concerned to discuss the project. Officials from my Department recently travelled to Wexford to have discussions with the group and the South Eastern Health Board. I am determined that suitable facilities will be made available to these groups as soon as resources allow.
