Vol. 433 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Meath School Appointments.

John Bruton

Question:

150 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education the consequences for schools in County Meath of the decision of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions to oppose any further schools based projects under the Social Employment Scheme, pending a satisfactory resolution of difficulties regarding the filling of permanent caretaker and secretary posts in schools; and the action, if any, she proposes to take in regard to this matter.

I am happy to announce that the difficulties referred to by the Deputy have recently been resolved, and that the unions involved are no longer opposing the operation of the Social Employment Scheme in schools.
