Vol. 433 No. 6

Written Answers. - Limerick School Closure.

Michael Noonan

Question:

153 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Education if she will reverse her decision to close a one teacher school (details supplied) in County Limerick; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The school in question had a total enrolement of nine pupils in the 1992-93 school year and an anticipated enrolement of just one pupil in the coming school year. In those circumstances, I consider the decision taken to withdraw departmental grants from the school with effect from the end of the 1992-93 school year to be a reasonable one and I do not propose to reverse it.
