Vol. 433 No. 6

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Entitlements.

Edward Nealon

Question:

67 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Social Welfare if the Irish/US bilateral arrangements on social welfare entitlements has come into effect.

I obtained the approval of Dáil Éireann for the bilateral agreement on social security between Ireland and the United States of America on 8 April, 1993. The US authorities approved the agreement shortly after that.

It is intended that the bilateral agreement on social security will come into effect on 1 September 1993 and I will be making the necessary order in advance of this date.
