Vol. 434 No. 2

Written Answers. - Dublin Drug Problem.

Seán Kenny

Question:

179 Seán Kenny asked the Minister for Justice the number of Gardaí and the amount of resources which are assigned to deal with the drug problem in the Dublin North-East area, from Coolock to Howth.

The Garda authorities inform me that the Divisional Headquarters for the Dublin North East area is located at Santry Garda Station. The Divisional Task Force, based at that station has a current strength of two Sergeants and sixteen Gardaí. This Unit deals with local crime including drug law enforcement. In addition, a further four gardaí, operating from the divisional headquarters, are employed full-time on drug law enforcement. They also have assistance as necessary from the Central Drug Squad based at Harcourt Square who operate closely with units in the North City.
