Vol. 434 No. 2

Written Answers. - Local Authority Offices Opening Hours.

Liam Lawlor

Question:

208 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of recent initiatives in Great Britain regarding Saturday and limited late night opening of local authority offices (details supplied), he will encourage a similar initiative in Ireland; if he will have the matter examined by his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The opening hours of their offices is entirely a matter for decision by individual local authorities. Any extension/variation of existing opening hours would have manning and financial implications and would require consultation with staff interests.
