Vol. 434 No. 2

Written Answers. - Pay Arrears.

Eamon Walsh

Question:

250 Mr. E. Walsh asked the Minister for Defence if he will have arrangements made to have all outstanding payments due to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 24 paid without further delay, as the delay is causing severe hardship; and if he will make a statement of all payments made to him.

The person referred to by the Deputy enlisted in the Permanent Defence Force on 28 June 1963. He was absent without leave for 60 days during 1966 and on 27 March 1970 he commenced a further period of absence without leave which lasted for more than 19 years. He resumed duty on 14 August 1989 and was discharged from the Permanent Defence Force on 15 March 1990. He has been issued with all pay and allowances due to him in respect of his periods of service. In addition, he has been paid a gratuity of £1,703.52 under the Defence Forces (Pensions) Schemes.
