Vol. 434 No. 2

Written Answers. - Farm Development Service Resources.

P. J. Sheehan

Question:

278 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if his attention has been drawn to the serious situation that pertains throughout the country, particularly in County Cork where officers of the Farm Development Offices of his Department are impeded from carrying out farm grant inspections for farm development grants applications due to the lack of finance to cover their travelling expenses; and the steps, if any, he intends to take to remedy this situation.

The travel budget for all FDS staff is carefully monitored all year round. A number of FDS officers countrywide had used up their quarterly travel allocation before the end of August 1993. All officers have been allocated adequate expenses since 1st September for the remainder of the travel year.
