Vol. 434 No. 2

Written Answers. - Allocation of Funds.

Enda Kenny

Question:

343 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for Health if he will make funding available to an organisation (details supplied) in Cork, in view of the wonderful work it is doing for terminally ill children; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Jim Higgins

Question:

359 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Health the amount of finance made available to the Share a Dream Foundation (details supplied) in Cork for its work for children fighting life-threatening illnesses; and if it is proposed to increase the level of assistance in the context of the tremendous work being done by the foundation.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 343 and 359 together. The Deputy will appreciate that there are many worthy organisations, of which this is one, which apply to my Department for financial assistance. Decisions on the allocation of funds have regard to service needs and priorities. Unfortunately in the context of the sums available to me I am unable to provide funding to this organisation in the current year.
