Vol. 434 No. 2

Written Answers. - School Principal/Vice Principal Vacancies.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

408 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education if she will give a list of the vacancies which have arisen since 1 January 1993, for principals and vice-principals of primary and secondary level schools; if, in respect of each of these schools, the outgoing principal or vice-principal was male or female; if the schools were co-educational, boys or girls; and the gender of the successful applicants for each of the vacancies referred to.

In regard to the primary sector there were 60 male and 92 female principals appointed since 1 January 1993. In addition there were three males and 15 females appointed as acting-principals in the same period.

There were four males and 31 female vice-principals appointed in primary schools since 1 January 1993. In addition there were ten females and one male appointed as acting vice-principals.
