As the Deputy is aware, responsibility for the enforcement of the School Attendance Act in the Tallaght and Clondalkin areas rests with the Garda Síochána.
A review of the working of the School Attendance Act, including an examination of the roles and responsibilities of the various agencies involved, is now under way in my Department and consultation is taking place with all the interested parties.
Any decision on the revision of school attendance legislation must await the outcome of this review.
