Vol. 434 No. 2

Written Answers. - Kerrykeel (Donegal) School.

James McDaid

Question:

74 Dr. McDaid asked the Minister for Education the status of a request for an extension (details supplied) to Kerrykeel national school, County Donegal.

Because of the unsuitability and the restricted nature of the site on which the existing unsatisfactory building is located, my Department has sanctioned in principle the provision of an entirely new school building on a site which has been identified by local interests and accepted, as regards its suitability, by the Department's professional staff. Architectural planning will be initiated as soon as the accommodation brief has been finalised. Its inclusion in the construction phase of the capital programme will be considered sympathetically in due course in the light of available capital resources and other commitments and priorities.
