Vol. 434 No. 2

Written Answers. - Revenue Yield from Increase on Income Tax.

Noel Ahern

Question:

134 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Finance the revenue yield from an increase of one penny on the standard income tax rate and on the higher income tax rate respectively.

The full year yield, estimated by reference to the 1993-94 tax year, of an increase in the standard rate of income tax from 27 per cent to 28 per cent is estimated at £74 million.

The corresponding yield from a similar increase in the 48 per cent rate is estimated at £30 million in a full year.
