Michael Creed

Question:

75 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork has not been paid in full for his 1991 beef premium.

The person named applied for premium in respect of 12 animals only under the 1991 special beef scheme and was paid grants in respect of these 12 animals on 18 February 1992.

Michael Creed

Question:

76 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork was not paid cattle headage on all the animals for which he submitted applications for 1992.

The person named applied for premium in respect of six animals under the June 1992 special beef premium scheme but only presented five animals at inspection on 13 October 1992. He was paid premium on five animals with a 20 per cent reduction penalty. If he can show to the satisfaction of my Department that he had the sixth animal for the required two months retention period the question of paying full grants on six animals will be reconsidered.

He did not apply for grants under the December 1992 special beef premium scheme.

John Ellis

Question:

77 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will pay arrears of subsidies and premia to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim.

The person named was paid his 1991 and 1992 cattle and equines headage schemes grants in late December 1991 and mid-December 1992 respectively. He was paid his 1991 special beef premium scheme grant in mid-February 1992. He was paid his June and December 1992 special beef premium schemes grants in late December 1992 and mid-May 1993 respectively. He was paid a reduced grant under the 1991 suckler cow premium scheme in early October 1993. His 1992 suckler cow premium scheme grant is being processed at present and if found in order will be paid within the next fortnight.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

78 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a reactor grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The reactor grant due to the person named will be paid within the next few weeks.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

79 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason grants are not available to plant broadleaves on ground where conifers had been grown; if he will change this situation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Reforestation grants of £800 per hectare are available for planting broadleaves on ground where conifers had been grown, provided broadleaves are suitable to the site involved.

Andrew Boylan

Question:

80 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason a beef premium has not been paid on one animal to a person (details supplied) in County Cavan; the reason the card for the animal has not been returned to this person in view of the fact that it was lodged with his Department's office in Cavan on 1 July 1993; and if he will expedite payment in view of the circumstances.

The person named applied for special beef premium in June 1993 on one animal. The cattle identity card submitted in respect of that animal referred to a female animal whereas it should have referred to a male. Arrangements have now been made with the local veterinary office for the issue of a new card showing the correct sex of the animal.

Under EC regulations payments in respect of the 1993 special beef premium scheme cannot commence until after 1 November 1993 and even then only a 60 per cent advance may be paid. The application of the person named will be processed in due course.
