While private golf clubs have not been funded under schemes operated directly by my Department, aid has been granted for golf courses and certain golfing facilities under the Agri-Tourism Scheme which forms part of the operational programme for rural development.
Under the scheme a total of five golf courses have been developed involving total grant payments of £371,700, some £241,600 of which is contributed from the EC Structural Funds. Also under the scheme a further 24 projects developing golfing facilities, e.g. driving range, pitch and putt etc. have been funded with total grant payments of £431,600, some £280,000 of which is contributed from the EC Structural Funds.
The five golf courses involved are at:
Mount Temple, Moate, County Westmeath.
Broadmeadow, Roganstown House, Swords, County Dublin.
Bodyke, County Clare.
Clonyn Castle, Delvin, County Westmeath.
