Question:

148 Mr. O'Leary asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade if he will make grant-aid available directly to groups of hotels and guest house owners to enable them to embark immediately on a strong marketing campaign in Europe and in the USA; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Proposals for a North American marketing campaign in 1994 have been put to my Department by a number of tourism interests, including hotels, carriers and incoming tour operators.

A decision in the matter will be made as soon as possible.
