50 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for Finance if arrears due under the Programme for Economic and Social Progress will be paid in December 1993, to staff who provide secretarial and administrative services for Dáil Deputies and Senators; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I would refer the Deputy to my statement of 4 June 1993 entitled "Government-ICTU `Understanding' on Public Service Pay". I indicated in that statement that the Government was committed to recouping all public servants the losses arising from the application in 1992 and 1993 of the ceilings of £5 and £6.50 per week, at the earliest possible date and, in any event, not later than January 1994. That is still the position.
