Vol. 435 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payment.

John Bruton

Question:

82 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Meath who applied for a suckler cow premium in July 1993, will receive a decision.

My Department is unable to trace any application from the person named under the 1993 suckler cow premium scheme.

The person named applied for EC suckler cow premium on 7 July 1992 in respect of 16 cows. At inspection on 9 October 1992 he presented 16 cows, five of which had mart stickers on their backs. Also on that date the person named had a TB test carried out on his herd and the five cows with stickers on their backs were not listed as being present for that test.
My Department is not satisfied he had 16 suckler cows in his herd on the date of application as he was required to under the terms and conditions of the suckler cow scheme. Unless he can prove satisfactorily that he had, it is regretted that grants cannot be paid.
