94 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Health the total amount of EC funding allocated in the National Development Plan 1994-1999 to his Department for various projects.

My Department has been allocated £70 million EC funding towards the cost of the construction of the new Tallaght Hospital. The total cost of the project is estimated at £123 million.

In addition EC funds totalling £185 million has been allocated in respect of the vocational training of people with disabilities for the period 1994-99. This comprises revenue funding (European Social Fund) of £166 million and capital (European Regional Development Fund) of £19 million. The total cost (revenue and capital) of the vocational training programme for people with disabilities is estimated at £302 million. This funding will support an estimated 4,000 wholetime training places benefiting some 5,600 trainees annually.
