Vol. 435 No. 3

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

138 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education if she will provide transport arrangements for a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The person in question lives in the Tarbert catchment area and is elgible for transport to Tarbert post-primary centre. In choosing to attend Listowel Convent, she is going out of her catchment and the most she can be offered by my Department, within the terms of the post-primary transport scheme, is con-cessionary transport from within the Listowel catchment boundary. This is subject to seats being available on the existing service and to no extra cost being incurred.

Unfortunately in this case there are no seats available on the existing service and it is not therefore open to my Department to provide transport for the person in question.
