Vol. 435 No. 3

Written Answers. - Taxi and Hackney Operations.

Richard Bruton

Question:

62 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment whether he has completed his review of the taxi and hackney operations in Dublin city; and whether he has any plans to issue further licences or make other changes in the rules governing fares and other terms affecting the carriage of passengers.

I am finalising consideration of the issues raised in the comprehensive review of the law applying to the operation of small public service vehicles generally with a view to taking decisions in relation to a range of issues. Pending the completion of that process, I have no proposals for interim changes in relation to fare structures or in relation to the number of licences in the Dublin taximeter area.
