Question:75 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Marine the extent to which he anticipates the development of sea transport to be funded by the EC in the next five years; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The projected levels of expenditure on ports over the next five years, which will fall to be co-financed by the EC, are set out in Chapter 9 of the recently published National Development Plan 1994-1999. This expenditure programme will greatly facilitate access to our key strategic ports for commercial shipping in the unitised and bulk modes and for ferry operators.
