Vol. 436 No. 7

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Michael Kitt — when funding will be provided for Clontuskert group water scheme, Ballinasloe, County Galway; (2) Deputy Gay Mitchell — allegations of fraud concerning sales of furniture involving at least 40 complaints in a number of areas including Dublin, Wicklow, Drogheda, Athlone, Sligo, Roscommon, Salthill and Ennis; (3) Deputy John Bruton — the delay in deciding on the management structure of the proposed second-level school in Dunboyne, County Meath, in view of the implications of that delay for the purchase of a site for the school; (4) Deputy Durkan — the need to re-examine the application for deserted wife's benefit of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; (5) Deputy Bradford — the need to provide Cork County Council with an adequate rate support grant; (6) Deputy O'Leary — the high level of youth unemployment in the Killarney and Kenmare areas of County Kerry; the nature of the efforts being made to locate industries in the three vacant IDA buildings in Killarney, and the setting up of the proposed enterprise centre in Kenmare; (7) Deputy Allen — the failure to include Gaelscoil Pheig Sayers, County Cork in the scheme of assistance to schools in designated areas of disadvantage despite the fact that the school is in an area of high unemployment; (8) Deputy Sheehan — the reason the Department of Justice has not assumed responsibility for the maintenance of courthouses as promised by a previous Minister for Justice; and when the transfer of such responsibility will take place; (9) Deputy Connaughton — the increasing number of burglaries in rural Ireland, in particular the recent spate of such incidents in Moylough, County Galway, where the local post office was raided twice in one week; the adequacy of Garda cover between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. when most of these raids take place; and the plans to combat such crimes, and (10) Deputy Deenihan — the urgent need to provide the necessary finance to enable the Southern Health Board to provide a kidney dialysis unit at Tralee general hospital.

The matters raised by the following Deputies have been selected for discussion:— Michael Kitt; Deenihan; John Bruton and Allen.
