Vol. 437 No. 2

Written Answers. - Recommendations on Conveyancing.

Ivor Callely

Question:

156 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform the recommendations as contained in the Law Reform Commission's report on conveyancing; the progress, if any, that has been made with each recommendation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I assume that the question refers to all five reports of the Law Reform Commission under the general heading of Land Law and Conveyancing Law. A Bill taking into account the report on Enduring Powers of Attorney is in the course of being prepared in my Department and is being dealt with as quickly as possible having regard to other urgent legislative proposals which are also in hand. The other four reports, two dealing with "General Proposals", one on Passing of Risk from Vendor to Purchaser and the other on Service of Completion Notices, have been referred for consideration by the informal Oireachtas Advisory Committee on Civil Law Reform.
