Vol. 437 No. 2

Written Answers. - Garda Station Accommodation.

Nora Owen

Question:

58 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Justice when work will commence on the provision of a new Garda station at Store Street, Dublin 1, in view of the fact that there is a site available beside the existing station and of the appalling Dickensian conditions for both the gardaí and people in the station, whether as general callers or prisoners.

The existing accommodation at Store Street Garda station is unsatisfactory and the provision of a replacement station is a priority. Detailed planning is proceeding with a view to commencing work on the new station in 1994.
