Vol. 437 No. 2

Written Answers. - Shared Ownership Scheme.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

98 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for the Environment the number of houses provided under the shared ownership scheme; and the number of grants for elderly in lieu of local authority housing provided by each local authority.

The latest available details of activity by housing authorities under the shared ownership scheme were published yesterday in my Department's September 1993 Housing Statistics Bulletin, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library. Details of activity under the scheme for the carrying out of improvement works in lieu of local authority housing are also given in the bulletin; full details are not available in relation to the number of cases where the applicant is classified as an elderly person but a survey has suggested that the proportion is about 8 per cent.
