Written Answers. - Special Pay Claims.

Ivan Yates

Question:

192 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Finance the special pay claims that are due for arbitration; and the cost of the claims if they are fully approved.

Twenty-seven special pay claims relating to the Civil Service have been disagreed at conciliation and have been listed by the unions concerned for arbitration. It is not possible at this stage to say which of these cases will be passed to arbitration and, if so, when they may be scheduled for hearing. A number of the claims are encompassed by discussions which are taking place with the unions on the restructuring of Civil Service grades and may be dealt with on the basis. Since the extent of the increase sought has not been specified in many of the claims it is not possible to state the cost which would be involved if they were fully approved.
