Vol. 437 No. 6

Written Answers. - Capital Allowances on Cars.

Ivan Yates

Question:

203 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Finance the cost to the Exchequer of raising capital allowances claimable on cars from £10,000 to £15,000 in 1994.

The cost to the Exchequer, arising from the change mentioned in the question, is estimated at £0.5 million in 1994 rising to £13 million in 1996. The cost assumes that the associated threshold for allowable running expenses in respect of motor cars used for business purposes would also be increased to £15,000.
