Question:214 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Finance the cost of abolishing the 1 per cent income levy.

The full year cost to the Exchequer, estimated by reference to the income tax year 1994-95, of abolishing the income levy is estimated at £135 million. This cost differs from a corresponding estimate given previously. The revision is due to more accurate information becoming available in the meantime.
