Vol. 437 No. 6

Written Answers. - Kilcullen (Kildare) Special Housing Programme.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

309 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment if he will approve the necessary funding for the 23 bedspace special housing programme of Camphill Communities of Ireland, Kilcullen, County Kildare, in view of the important work carried out for the community; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The project is one proposed to be undertaken with the assistance available for the provision of housing accommodation by approved voluntary housing bodies. My Department's involvement relates primarily to the provision, within the allocation available in the Public Capital Programme, of funds for individual projects. The detailed administration of relevent schemes, including certification that particular projects comply with the terms of the scheme, is the responsibility of the local authority, in this instance Kildare County Council. It is understood that the Council is, at present, considering aspects relating to the eligibility for assistance under the scheme of this particular project.
