Vol. 437 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Ivan Yates

Question:

441 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Wexford will be paid their beef premium payments; and if he will expedite this payment.

Question:

474 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the date of an application for a 22 month beef premium by a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; the progress to date; the likely outcome; the reason Deputy Byrne, upon inquiring on 20 January 1994, about this application, was informed that it was on an error list in that it had been rejected for payment by computer; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 441 and 474 together.

The person named applied for premium on 18 animals under the January-February 1993 special beef premium scheme and on 72 animals under the June-July 1993 special beef premium scheme. The ages of four of the animals on his January-February 1993 application were found to be inconsistent with the ages he had declared himself for those same animals on his December 1992 special beef premium application. On the basis of the December 1992 age declarations, the four animals are ineligible for payment of the 22 month premium applied for in January-February 1993 and the applicant is deemed to have made a false declaration under this scheme. Under the relevant EU Regulations, this means that no 1993 or 1994 special beef premium payment can be made to him.
