Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Charles Flanagan

Question:

460 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when payment was sanctioned in respect of a special beef premium to a person (details supplied) in County Laois; and when payment will be made.

The application of the person named for grants under the January-February 1993 special beef premium scheme is being processed at present. If found in order a 60 per cent advance as provided for in EU Regulation will be paid shortly in respect of all eligible animals on his application. He is not an applicant under the June 1993 special beef premium scheme.

Question:

461 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when payment was sanctioned in respect of a special beef premium to a person (details supplied) in County Laois; and when payment will be made.

The person applied for special beef premium on 42 animals in January-February 1993. Payment was sanctioned on the 42 animals on 24 January 1994 and will issue shortly. He has been paid 60 per cent advance on the six animals applied for on his June 1993 special beef premium application.

Enda Kenny

Question:

462 Mr. E. Kenny asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when beef premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

The person named applied for the ten month beef premium on two animals in December 1992. Due to a problem with an invalid tag number the payment was delayed. This has now been corrected and payment will issue shortly. He applied for special beef premium for one animal in January-February 1993 but sold the animal without meeting the requirement in the terms and conditions of the scheme to have its identity card stamped and punched. Accordingly, he cannot be paid special beef premium on this animal.

Question:

463 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason the 60 per cent advance headage grant has not yet been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Sligo; when this 60 per cent advance will be paid; and when the remainder will be paid.

I regret the delay in paying the advance of the 1993 cattle headage grant to the person named which came about because of a clerical error. This has now been corrected. His application is being processed at present, and if found in order, payment will be made in the near future.

Question:

465 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason the advance headage grant of 60 per cent has not yet been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Sligo; if he will make a statement as to when this grant, which was paid to many farmers before Christmas, will now be paid; and when the remainder will be paid.

The person named was not paid the 60 per cent advance on his 1993 headage grants because he did not submit a properly completed area aid application form. A query has been sent to him to determine the extent of his forage area and when a satisfactory reply is received payment of headage grants will be made.
