Vol. 437 No. 6

Written Answers. - Thurles (Tipperary) Handicapped Persons' Workshop.

Michael Lowry

Question:

520 Mr. Lowry asked the Minister for Health if additional funding will be provided in 1994 to the Thurles Workshop for the Handicapped, Thurles, County Tipperary, to allow for an intake of new trainess.

The Government has provided an additional £12.5 million in 1994 to develop services for people with mental handicap and their families, £10 million of which will be used to develop new services. The precise services to be provided in each region will be decided in consultation with the regional mental handicap co-ordinating committees in each health board area.

It will, therefore, be a matter in the first instance for the co-ordinating committee in the Mid-Western Health Board area to identify the priority developments for their region.
