Vol. 437 No. 6

Written Answers. - Allocation of National Lottery Grants.

John Bruton

Question:

581 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education the action, if any, she proposes to take to deal with the apparent discrimination against County Meath in the allocation of national lottery grants for sports facilities, as outlined to her in a letter from Deputy J. Bruton on 5 July 1993.

Under the national lottery funded recreational facilities scheme, administered by my Department a total of £103,170 was allocated to County Meath in respect of six projects. These projects have been completed and the full grant amounts have been paid in each case. A total of £162,000 was also allocated to projects in County Meath under the Department of Environment national lottery funded amenity grant scheme.

My Department has received 13 applications for national lottery funding in respect of various projects in County Meath. I can assure the Deputy that every consideration will be given to these applications when allocations are being made from the funds available in 1994.
