In the case of transition year, I have arranged for an in-career development programme to be delivered at regional level by a team of experienced teachers who have been trained specifically for the task. The programme involves briefing the whole staff of schools offering transition year and includes two days of in-career development at local level for groups of 4/5 teachers from each school.
With regard to the Leaving Certificate vocational programme and the Leaving Certificate applied programme, I propose to put in place a comprehensive training programme of in-career development for the teachers involved.
