Vol. 437 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Sports Facilities.

Michael Noonan

Question:

625 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Education if she has received an application for funds from the national lottery for the upgrading of sporting facilities at a school (details supplied) in County Limerick; when funds will become available to her Department to consider applications; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My Department has received an application for national lottery funding for the upgrading of sporting facilities at the school in question.

The national lottery funded recreational facilities scheme, administered by my Department, is generally confined to the assistance of voluntary community organisations in the provision of and improvements to recreational leisure and community facilities.

All applications received under this scheme will be considered as soon as possible in the context of the funding available in 1994.
