Question:

635 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education if she has received a copy of the INTO survey of schools currently deemed seriously sub-standard; if so, if she has noted the schools in County Kildare which are deemed to have fallen within this category; her proposals in each case to ensure that the standard and extent of accommodation is improved forthwith; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I have received a copy of the INTO survey referred to by the Deputy and note that there is one school in County Kildare included on the list — Hewetson National School, Clane. I am pleased to inform the Deputy that the major building project at this school is included in the Primary School Capital Programme for 1994.

I would also add that two other major projects in County Kildare — Allen and Rathcoffey national schools are also included in 1994 capital programme.
