I propose to take Questions Nos. 67, 79, 83, 90 and 114 together.

I am aware of the considerable concern about the weight of school bags. The imposition of national standards is unlikely to be the optimum solution. Approaches to this problem at school level are likely to be much more effective. These involve time tabling and advance planning by teachers so that pupils know in advance what books are required on what particular day. Arrangements for storing school books in schools where this is possible can also be helpful.
