Question:638 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education if she has recently received submissions from the authorities at Scoil Iognáid Rís, Naas, County Kildare; if so, if she has studied the submission and/or reached any conclusions as to whether she will respond positively to the request contained therein; if she will meet with the school representatives with a view to identification and implementation of the most likely means whereby the objectives set out in the recent representations she has received are likely to be achieved; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Question:641 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education the extent, if any, of her discussions with the authorities at Meán Scoil Iognáid Rís, Naas, County Kildare, in the period 12 December 1993 to 26 January, 1994; if agreement has been reached in the course of any such discussion regarding the provision of the much sought after facilities at this school; if implementation of such proposals is likely to occur in sufficient time to provide for the 1994-1995 school year; if sufficient resources remain available in the 1994 Capital Programme to facilitate such works in the current year; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
I propose to answer Questions Nos. 99, 638 and 641 together. I have received many representations in relation to the proposed extension to Meán Scoil Iognáid Rís, Naas, County Kildare and I am fully aware of the urgent need to provide this accommodation.
The 1994 Capital Programme is being finalised at present and this is one of the projects being considered for inclusion having regard to the relevant building, educational and financial factors. My Department will be in contact with the school authorities when the programme has been finalised.
