Vol. 437 No. 6
141 Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Finance the reason there is an upper age limit of 50 years of age for eligibility for driver testers.
142 Mrs. Doyle asked the Minister for Finance the reasons for the upper and lower age restrictions on driver tester job applicants.
I propose to answer Questions Nos. 141 and 142 together. In the Programme for Economic and Social Progress a commitment was given by the Government to raise recruitment age limits in the public service. Previous competitions for appointment to the grade of driver tester were advertised with an upper age limit of 45. This limit was increased to 50 for the most recent competition reflecting the Government's commitment in this regard.
