Vol. 438 No. 1

Written Answers. - Building Industry Tax Forms.

Seán Haughey

Question:

73 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he has received a submission from the Committee of Labour Trades 1993 in relation to the uses of C.45s in the building industry; if he will introduce reforms in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have not received any submission from the Committee of Labour Trades 1993 on this matter. However, I am aware that trade unions are concerned at the manner in which C.45s are being used by some contractors in the building industry. As the C.45 is a tax form, any reform in relation to its use is a matter for the Revenue Commissioners. I am asking my colleague, the Minister for Finance, who has responsibility for the Revenue Commissioners, to have the use of the C.45 reviewed to ensure it operates fairly.
