Vol. 438 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Finucane

Question:

89 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when headage and suckler grants representing 40 per cent of grants claimed will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

The person named has already been paid advances of 1993 cattle headage and suckler cow grants. Subject to final processing the balances will be paid in due course.

Question:

90 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when beef premium was refused for payment to a person (details supplied) in County Cork on 9 animals; and if he will reconsider this application.

Michael Finucane

Question:

112 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason beef premium was refused to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick in view of the fact that sales dockets have been furnished for the nine animals which had been refused; and if he will reconsider his decision.

I propose taking Questions Nos. 90 and 112 together as they refer to the same case.

The person named applied for premium on 21 animals under the January/February 1993 special beef premium scheme but failed to submit cattle identity cards in respect of nine of those animals for stamping and punching prior to sale as required under the terms and conditions of the scheme. As the nine animals were sold at a mart and could be submitted for premium again, payment could not be made on these nine animals.

He has already been paid a 60 per cent advance in respect of the remaining 12 animals and also a 60 per cent advance under the June 1993 special beef premium scheme. The balances will be paid as soon as possible.

Michael Creed

Question:

91 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork was not issued with a ewe premium quota from the national reserve.

The person is not the registered herdowner of the herd number quoted. The person who is, however, applied for ewe premium reserve quota under Category 1 (a) of the Terms and Conditions governing the allocation of reserve quota. This category provides for reserve quota to be allocated to flockowners whose application for the ewe premium in 1991, due to exceptional circumstances, did not correspond to the true situation of their holdings in previous years.

The applicant was paid premium on a higher number of ewes in 1991 than in previous years and therefore does not qualify for reserve quota under this category.

Patrick J. Morley

Question:

92 Mr. Morley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a cattle headage grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

The application of the person named for grants under the 1993 cattle and equine headage scheme is being processed at present and if found in order payment will be made in the near future.
