Question:107 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the way in which the sheep quota figure was arrived at on application to the national reserve by a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary.
Written Answers. - Calculation of Sheep Quota Figure.
The person named was not automatically entitled to a quota as he did not make an application for ewe premium in 1991. In such cases the criteria used for allocating quota from the National Reserve was to take the average of the number applied for in the previous two or three years. As the person named made on application in 1988 his quota was based on the average of the numbers for which he was paid premium in the years 1989 and 1990 which in this case was 10.
